In 1874, a group of artists named the Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors, Engravers, etc. organised their first and, as it turned out, legendary exhibition, independent of the official annual Salon of the French Academy of Fine Arts, in the studio of the famous Parisian photographer Nadar. Among the works presented at the exhibition was Impression, soleil levant by Claude Monet (November 14, 1840 - December 5, 1926), which was to give its name to Impressionism, when the critic of the time Louis Leroy, in the well-known satirical article of, strongly criticised the "unfinished" nature of the work.

On the occasion of the 182nd birthday of the famous Impressionist painter Claude Monet, the A. G. Leventis Gallery presents a unique concert in the Impressionists Hall.

The international soprano Vakia Stavrou, accompanied by Manolis Neofytou on the piano, will take the audience on a journey with a repertoire that evokes the Paris of the Impressionists, the writers, the bohemian artists of Montmartre, but at the same time with a reference to Greece and Latin America of about the same period – of the artistic flowering of song and songwriters.

The repertoire takes us back in time, to an era with an unquenchable artistic flame and the groups that mixed musicians, writers, painters, poets and dancers in the so-called "artistic" cafes, bistros and cabarets. A repertoire that takes us to the streets and atmospheric cafés of Montmartre, where the Impressionists met and created. Attik, Édith Piaf, Josephine Baker, Juliette Greco, Manos Hadjidakis, Carlos Gardel and so many others sweetly reciprocate on the evening of November 14, 2022, and enliven the artistic life of that time.

The event is under the auspices of the French Embassy in Cyprus.

All proceeds will be donated to support the Visitation and Patient Welfare Council of Archbishop Makarios III Hospital.
