Could we imagine Modernism without Picasso, Braque, Duchamp or Kadinsky? Perhaps, among the list of the artists who –by burning bridges in the art world– changed its course forever, we should also include the names of two women who, as collectors and patrons of the arts, stood firmly behind the Modern movement: Peggy Guggenheim and Gertrude Stein. Dynamic, eccentric, controversial, they are the legendary figures who supported the revolution that was Modernism. This International Women’s Day, we celebrate their amazing, unconventional lives and journey with them in the whirl of feminism, war and passion.

The Wednesday Lecture of March, as every year, is dedicated to the International Women’s Day. Myrto Hatzaki, the Curator of the Paris Collection of the A. G. Leventis Gallery, will present through her lecture ‘Peggy Guggenheim / Gertrude Stein: The legendary women behind the Modernist myth’ those two emblematic female figures and how their lifestyle changed the world History of Art.
