The A. G. Leventis Gallery is resuming the Wednesday Lecture series for this year with a lecture on the occasion of the temporary exhibition ‘From Asia Minor to Cyprus: Heyday – Catastrophe – Displacement – Rebirth’, with the title ‘I wish to travel through the seas of Antalya’, by the philologist Thodoris Kontaras.

A nostalgic journey of memory from the ‘excellent port of Antalya’ and the impregnable castle state of Alaia to the foothills of Argaio, in the Cappadocia of the acrites, the legends and the troglodytes. And from the remote Sylli to the vigorous Roman communities of Adana and Mersina, with their active merchants and intense social life. There..., from the reaches of the Greek World of Asia Minor to the beloved Cyprus.

Thodoris Kontaras studies the folklore and history of Hellenism in Asia Minor, mainly in the regions of Ionia, Aeolian and Propontis. His articles, papers and studies have been published in folklore and historical books, in scientific journals and newspapers of Asia Minor associations. Invited by associations and institutions, he has given hundreds of lectures on Asia Minor topics throughout Greece and has been honored for his contribution to the Asia Minor idea by many Asia Minor associations.
