He studied painting at the art academies in Venice and Munich, as well as the Académie Julian in Paris. He lived in Munich for many years,before settling in Athens. In 1913 he received a German award for portraiture; he also painted the Town Hall of Geislingen in Württemberg.He participated in the Venice Biennale (1934). He made portraits, genre paintings, landscapes and animal paintings in a realistic idiom.
