About the artist

Coming from a family with French origins, he studied at the Art Academy of Marseille and then at the Academy of St Luke in Rome, wherehe lived for 15 years. He returned to Corfu in 1895 and established an art school. In 1899 he moved to Athens and taught at the Athens Schoolof Fine Arts (1900-1928). He held solo exhibitions of his work in his studio every year (1906-1924) and participated in the world fairs in Paris(1900), Athens (1903) and Rome (1911).   He distinguished himself as a landscape artist, using watercolour or oil to paint mostly idyllic views of Corfu in a poetical mood. AlongsideAngelos Giallinas, he shaped the tradition of watercolour painting in the Ionian Islands.
