The A. G. Leventis Gallery Instagram stories have, for the past few days, been preparing us for something different that is about to take place! For one more time, the A. G. Leventis Gallery demonstrates originality in its activity, as for the first time it will be presenting an online exhibition that will be taking place exclusively on Instagram.

The title of the mini-exhibition is '(Un)Fixed Limits' and its concept is rather simple. Life is full of ‘limits’ and everyone faces these limits in a different way. However, no matter how limited we may feel, we always have a choice. This exhibition poses questions concerning these limits in the form of polls in Instagram stories and the public is invited to give their answers.

"The museum doors are no longer a limit in viewing and interpreting art, our collections will be available for the public to view, interpret and participate in a way that has not been done in Cyprus before", says Irene Drakou, A. G. Leventis Gallery’s Events and Communications Officer.

The exhibition will be launching on the 7^th of December 2020 and will include over 50 questions, asked by personalities from the cultural world, art and theatre, and will be associated with works from the Gallery’s Collections. Each week’s polls will form a thematic focus, depending on the ‘limit’ each personality wishes to explore.

In each story the Gallery’s followers and, more generally, Instagram users will be invited to choose between two possible options, to take sides in favour of one of the two proposed statements, to accept the necessarily simplistic binary logic of surveys, to participate in an only apparently easy game.

At the end of each week, polls’ results will be commented by the respective curators. By using a text, a video or another creative contribution, each of them will explain their selection of works, how they perceive limits and try to decode the answers of the public, passing thus the message of their deepest thoughts and emotions and compare them with those of the participants’ moods and emotions.

This mini-exhibition defies the ephemeral and instantaneous nature of Instagram and will transform the social platform into a virtual community for social interaction, artistic reflection and intellectual provocation.
