The A. G. Leventis Gallery has set as a goal for the new year to highlight the important role of art in mental health as well as the unique benefits it can offer. The Wednesday Lectures series begin this year on February 1, 2023 with the lecture, EMST for all - Educational, Social, Therapeutic programmes of the National Museum of Contemporary Art by Elisabeth Ioannides, Curator of Education – Visual Psychotherapist at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) in Athens.

Museums are one of the preeminent social fields of learning, where creative ideas, feelings and relationships –both between people and between people and objects– find space for expression and development. The modern museum is multidimensional in terms of the way of approaching the public, with the main aim of offering a multi-sensory cognitive experience in which the visitor has a leading and deeply active role. How does the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens plan its programmes? What is the concept behind these programmes? In a period of social, and demographic changes, how does the museum respond to its educational and social role? These are some of the issues that will be discussed with examples of programmes from the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST)
