The A. G. Leventis Gallery honours Women's Day

March 8th was established as Women's Day in commemoration of the protest held on March 8th, 1957, when women workers of New York's textile industry demonstrated for better working conditions. It was one of the first acts in the struggle for the equal rights of women.
 
When this day was first established, women from all over the world began to demand the right to vote. New Zealand (then a British Colony) was the first to allow women to vote in 1893.
 
On the other hand, in Saudi Arabia, it took almost a century for women to gain the right to vote, hold
positions in public offices and have equal employment opportunities as men.
 
 
Between 8-11th of March the A.G. Leventis Gallery Shop will be offering 40% off its jewellery, inspired by exquisite artworks of the Permanent Collections. The Cyprus Collection Catalogue will also be on sale at a reduced price of €36 from €60, where you will come across unique works of art such as 'Daughters of God', by Loukia Nicolaidou Vassiliou, the first Cypriot woman to study Fine Art.
