‘The Giving Trees’

Experiential workshop with storyteller/drama educator Marina Katsaris and educator Rebecca Katsaris.

Once upon a time, in a gloriously green valley, there were two trees, right next to each other: An apple tree and an almond tree. These two beautiful trees had created a special and beautiful friendship with a little boy who always loved playing under their shade. The apple tree would always give to the boy everything he would ask for as she never wanted to break his heart. The almond tree on the other hand, sometimes would politely refuse his requests although she would always offer to the boy her love, friendship and support. One day something happened, something that never happened before: The apple tree decided not to fulfil one of the child’s requests and the boy became very upset and sad. Did the apple tree stop loving him? Why did she say 'no' to him?

How do you show your love to others? Do you always need to give everything to the people you love? If you ever refuse, does it mean that you have stopped loving them?

What is love after all?

The workshop is inspired by the works of
Symeon Savvidis (1859-1927), ‘Landscape with Hills and Trees (Landscape with Pine Trees)',
Epaminondas Thomopoulos (1878-1976), ‘Landscape with Farmhouse, Fields and Mountains’,
