This painter and draughtsman came for a large family of Antwerp artists and learnt battle and landscape painting from his father, Peeter Verdussen. He is best known for his paintings of cavalry engagements, but he also depicted other, more peaceful scenes with riders, such as bivouacs, camps and horse fairs.
