Untitled

Michael Michaeledes (1923-2015)
Untitled
coloured paper relief
AGLC 772 @ A.G Leventis Gallery

His ongoing research and experimentation, as well as his training as an architect led him to explore the principles of an important art movement: Constructivism. The movement’s structural compositions with their simple geometric forms, tectonics of construction and rationalist order fit perfectly with Michaeledes’ disposition. Evidence of his deepening interest in the Constructivist movement can be seen in the artwork, Untitled, 1974. Here the artist has created geometric reliefs by making cuts in two pieces of cardboard, one green and the other red.
