He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1930-1939). Having been active as an artist during the German Occupation and Resistanceyears, he became art director at the Aspioti-ELKA graphic arts company (1948) on Corfu. He cooperated with Hellenic Post in designingstamps, using colour woodcut and offset techniques (1954-1967). He taught at the Athens Institute of Technology and was director of theGraphic Art Department (1959-1967). Besides his solo exhibitions, he participated in numerous group exhibitions and international events(Venice Biennale 1950; Sao Paulo Bienal; Alexandria Biennale 1961; Tokyo Biennale of Prints 1960; Osaka 1961; Ljubljana 1965; Krakow 1966,1972; Florence 1970, 1972). He was a member of the ‘Stathmi’ group of artists. He also worked as an illustrator, and poster and album coverdesigner. In 1985, he and his artist wife, Loukia Mangiorou, donated a large number of their works to the National Gallery in Athens.
