He studied at the School of Arts in Athens (1874-1880); he participated in exhibitions already as a student. In the beginning he producedgenre paintings; he then turned to landscape, leaving behind academic models. In addition, he made still-life paintings and portraits. Healso worked as a printmaker, making woodcuts for magazine illustrations.
